Watch the Royal Albert Hall ‘At Home’ sessions

The Royal Albert Hall

What’s the Idea?

The Royal Albert Hall is bringing exclusive sessions from artists’ homes to yours, while the Hall is closed due to the pandemic.

What’s the story

I remember the first time I went to the Royal Albert Hall and stepped into the auditorium.

And was blown away by its magnificence. What a beautiful, iconic building!

The whole experience was amazing.

And I have since seen Ballet, Opera and the Cirque du Soleil there.

I have also listened to fabulous orchestras, and concerts by musicians and bands.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Royal Albert Hall’s doors are shut for the foreseeable future.

So instead, they have produced a brilliantly varied programme taking place over the next few weeks.

Called The ‘Royal Albert Home’ sessions. #royalalberthome

The programme of sessions has something for everyone, including ‘Draw-along with Charlie Mackesy’, ‘Classical for Kids’ and the ‘Kaiser Chiefs’.

People should do this because…?

Although we can’t visit the Hall at the moment, it is wonderful to be able to support this historical venue.

While every session in the Royal Albert Home programme is FREE to watch,

You can donate in order to support the Hall during the crisis

Which will keep it going while it has to be shut.

They, like many other theatres and concert venues rely solely on the income from their shows.

It is a chance to see many familiar faces in a more personal setting, than we are used to seeing them.

We find out how they are keeping active and being creative, even through lockdown.

It may inspire you to be creative, whether it is to write a song, learn to draw or play a musical instrument.

How do you do it?

There is a full list of all the upcoming sessions on the Royal Albert Hall’s website.

You can choose what you would like to watch ‘live’ by selecting ‘notify me’ on any of the upcoming sessions and you will receive a reminder closer to the time.

There is also an extensive list of past sessions that are available to watch on demand.

These include:

  • Brassed Off
  • KT Tunstall
  • Scouting for Girls
  • Alfie Boe

As well as some especially for children such as:

  • Samuel West reads The Great Jelly of London
  • Classical for Kids

And don’t forget to donate if you are able to help support this wonderful venue’s future.
