What’s the Idea?
You can watch ballet online every Wednesday with a new performance from the English National Ballet each week – free to view for 48 hrs.
What’s the story
If you love to watch ballet you will be pleased to hear that, last week, the English National Ballet at Home started to stream world-class ballet.
They launched their weekly #WednesdayWatchParty with Aszure Barton’s Fantastic Beings, featuring 20 dancers and the English National Ballet Philharmonic.
This week viewers will be treated to Stina Quagebeur’s NORA, a one-act ballet inspired by the lead character in Henrik Ibsen’s play, A Doll’s House, a woman on the path to independence.
One of the first ballets I went to see growing up was Swan Lake and I remember being mesmerised by the dancers.
I hope my kids are too when we tune in!
People should do this because…?
If you love to watch ballet, then this will be perfect for you.
With the Coronavirus there has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding our daily lives.
However a positive development from all of this has been the vast amount of cultural entertainment brought to us at home.
People are able to watch and view things that perhaps they weren’t able to before but always wanted to.
The English National Ballet at Home has brought something for everyone to look forward to on Wednesday evenings with front row seats to watch these amazingly skilled and beautiful dancers.
For some it might be something new to watch ballet and appreciate;
For others it will be a welcome breath of fresh air;
And for others it will bring some familiarity and continued enjoyment.
In addition to the weekly new performances ENG are offering a variety of classes and workshops including:
- Advanced/Professional Company Ballet Classes with Tamara Rojo
- Beginners-Improvers Ballet Classes with Sarah Golightly
