What inspired this painting
In isolation at home memories of the open fields are very strong and the inability to walk there has driven the urge to create landscape paintings of the local area.
My painting is based on a splendidly wild meadow of different flowers and grasses with distant views across arable fields.
Normally I walk through this meadow most days before lunch.
When I last saw the meadow it was early spring and nothing much had grown.
Now the meadow will be at its best, full of colour, bees, and butterflies, stimulating me to make a painting from memory that is evocative of the meadow and the emotions it stimulates.
