What’s the Idea?

These Harry Potter themed games are perfect for young wizards and very easy to set up!

What’s the story

These Harry Potter games are based on several scenes from the popular story of Harry Potter.

The adventures of Harry Potter cut across generations of both kids and adults,

and we just can’t seem to get enough of him.

His fan base is huge and covers many countries around the world.

Kids never get tired of the magical experience Harry Potter presents each time it comes up the screen.

So with these Harry Potter-themed games, you get to experience once again,

the world of Harry Potter with your kids.

People should do this because…?

These Harry Potter games are super fun and very easy to set up.

Your kids are reminded of major Harry Potter scenes,

And your kids get to experience a little bit of magic.

While they are having fun, they will never know they are actually carrying out a science experiment,

Or improving their hand to eye coordination, and throwing skills.

There are variations to the game which will keep your kids occupied.

And you can play these games both indoor and outdoor.

Because they are perfect activities for both sunny days as well as bad weather days.

They are inexpensive and you should have all the items needed to play.

How do you do it?

Below are the Harry Potter games you can have fun with at home:

Wingardium Leviosa Science Experiment

To carry out this activity, you’ll need:

  1. Test the strength of your magnets by seeing how well they draw the paperclips. An ideal magnet will have the paperclips jump to it.
  2. Place the magnets between two jumbo craft sticks and hold them in place with your coloured tape. This serves as your wand.
  3. Now take a paperclip and tie about 4 to 6 inches of fishing line to it.
  4. Anchor the other end of the fishing line by placing it on a lego plate. Then place about 2 to 3 lego pieces across the fishing line to hold it in place.
  5. Fix your feather into the paperclip.
  6. With your wand and feather all set, hold your wand close to the feather. You will see it jump up and stick to the wand.
  7. Now lift your wand slowly and you will see the feather levitating below your magic wand.
  8. To make it more magical have your kids say the “Wingardium Leviosa” spell just before they levitate their feathers.
  9. You can make it more fun by taking note of who can hold up the feather longer in the air before it falls.

Dobby’s Sock Toss Game

For the sock toss game, you’ll need:

  • A laundry basket
  • A few pairs of socks

  1. Roll up the pairs of socks into balls and tie them. You will want to have about 8 to 10 balls.
  2. Mark a line about six feet away from the laundry basket.
  3. Have your kids try to throw the socks into the laundry basket.
  4. With each successful throw into the basket,  they should take one step back from the laundry basket.
  5. You can make a successful throw score for two points, and at the end of a round, you can add up the scores to determine the winner.
  6. In the case of a tie, you can have extra rounds till a winner emerges.
  7. You can make the game even more fun by placing a medium-sized bowl in the centre of the basket.
  8. A score of three points is awarded for a successful throw in the bowl, and a score of one point for a throw in the basket.
  9. You can also adopt throwing with a non-dominant hand, throwing with a blindfold, or throwing overhead, with your back facing the basket.
