What’s the Idea?

This online yoga class is designed for those recovering from Covid-19 symptons as well as people sufffering from breathing issues such as asthma or anxiety.

What’s the story

The Breathing through Covid-19 class is the brainchild of the Yoga for Life Project, a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC).

They provide a specialist therapeutic approach, designed to help support health and wellbeing through a range of classes.

Since lockdown, they have been offering online classes via Zoom, many of which are free.

These classes help people to take control of their own physical and mental health, and focus on their wellbeing during this incredibly challenging time.

They are catered for all abilities and are available to anyone, even if your mobility is limited.

The Breathing Through Covid-19 class is designed to help those recovering from Coronavirus, as well as anyone suffering with asthma or anxiety.

It is one of a number of free online yoga classes available at Yoga for Life.
Other free classes include:

  • Community Yoga class on a Monday at 11am
  • Caring for Cancer Class at 11:30am on Friday
  • Restorative Yoga class for NHS workers and anyone else who would like to join on Friday evening at 6:30pm
  • This is in addition to other paid for classes which can be found on their website.

People should do this because…?

If you have suffered with Coronavirus symptoms, the Breathing through Covid-19 class will help with recovery through gentle exercise.

These exercises are aimed at keeping the lungs and respiratory muscles strong and healthy.

The class is also aimed at those suffering from asthma or anxiety, and offers a great way to aid calm and recovery to all.

How do you do it?

During the online class, a series of breathing exercises teach you to breathe using the full capacity of your diaphragm.

There are also some gentle movements to allow you to explore the breath in the back as well as the front of your lungs.

This is followed by a deep relaxation technique, which allows you to return to your day with more strength and to help you build day by day towards full recovery.

The Breathing Through Covid-19 class takes place on Thursdays at 2-2:30 p.m. via Zoom.
